Abstract: Poly(styrene-co-butyl acrylate) (PSb)/Fe3O4 nanocomposites were prepared via in-situ polymerization. Microstructure and properties of the nanocomposite were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and physical performance measurements. The results indicated that Fe3O4 nanoparticles had a diameter around 9 nm, and they were uniformly dispersed in the PSb matrix without any aggregation. These nanocomposites were found to exhibit a super paramagnetism feature. The incorporation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles into PSb could enhance the thermal stability of the nanocomposites.
