Abstract: This article introduced the current development situation of polypropylene (PP) resins for automobiles and also overviewed the application status of PP-based modified materials in vehicles. Moreover, the trend in development of PP-based automotive plastics was predicted. PP resins with a high modulus, high impact-resistance and high fluidity become major automotive plastics. The modified PP-based automotive plastics included inorganic-filler-reinforced and elastomer-toughened PP, glass-fiber-reinforced PP, modified PP with total low volatile organic compounds, scratch-resistant PP, etc. The recycling and reuse of PPbased automotive plastics has also become more and more important.
