Abstract: In this work, dibutylfuran-2,5-dicarboxylate (DBF) was synthesized by a transesterification method using dimethyl furan-2,5-dicarboxylate (DMF) and n-butyl alcohol as raw materials and potassium carbonate as a catalyst. The effects of synthetic conditions including reaction time, catalyst dosage and reaction temperature on the yield of DBF were investigated by a response surface methodology on the basis of singlefactor experiments. The results indicated that the optimum conditions for the synthesis of DBF were obtained at a reaction temperature of 90 ℃, a catalyst content of 4 wt % in DMF and reaction time of 76.05 min, and an average yield of 96.47 wt % was achieved for DBF when being synthesized at such conditions.
