Processing Parameter Optimization of Precision Injection Molding for Complex and Thickwall Automotive Parts

Abstract: A high adaptable optimization model of volume shrinkage response surface was formulated with minimum volume shrinkage of plastic parts as the optimization goal, mold temperature, packing time, packing pressure, and melt temperature as the optimal variables. Using Box(Boxbehnken design) secondorder response surface design method, combine variance analysis, optimal process parameters were obtained. CAE analysis and prototyping experiments confirmed that these optimal parameters could decrease contraction by 8 %.
