Abstract: The  research  work  on  the  flame  retartant  behavior  of polymer/carbon  nanotuhes(covalently and non-covalently modified) composites was reviewed.  The heat release rate, mass loss rate, time to ignition, limiting oxygen index, and UL94 of the composites were discussed. The key points which need further study and directions for future work were given in conclusion remarks.

Key words: carbon nanotubes;flame retardancy, modification;synergistic effect
