Abstract: In order to reveal frequency characteristics of acoustic emission (AE) signal from different damage modes of self-reinforced polyethylene(PEA composites (PE-UHMW/PE-LDP,damage (matrix damage, fiber breakage, interface damage, and delaminating)and non-damage (environment noise and pencil lead break test) signals were extracted from PE-LD resin, filament composite, 90° laminate, and +45°/-45°laminates.The difference between damage and non-damage AE signals in was identified. These results could he used to investigate damage mechanisms of self-reinforced PE composites.
