Abstract: Novel hyperbranch bridge hindered phenols (HBHP) were synthesized from β(3,5-diterbutyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionyl chloride and low generation hyperbranched macromolecule, and the products were characterized by FTIR and 1H-NMR. And the processing stability and thermal oxidative stability of HBHPs in two polyethylene resins were investigated. HBHP provided excellent processing stability and antioxidant property for polyethylene, and their antioxidant function was superior to that of antioxidant 1076. Moreover, the antioxidant function of HBHP in two polyethylene resins increased with increasing of the length of alkyl chain. The antioxidant properties of HBHP in PE-HD were slightly better than those in PE-LLD.
