Abstract: In this paper, poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) cable materials were prepared by melt blending, and plasticizing effect of a plant-based plasticizer, Diacetyl epoxidized vegetable-oil acids glyceride (HM-828), on PVC was investigated, and its plasticizing mechanisms were studied. The results indicated that HM-828 exhibited a high plasticizing efficiency for PVC, and it significantly reduced the glass transition temperature of PVC from 80 to-20 ℃ at a loading of 50 phr.Incorporation of 35~50 phr HM-828 into PVC could make mechanical properties, thermal stability and electrical resistance meet the reguirements of national standard of GB/T 8815—2008. The resulting PVC compounds also achieved a significant enhancement in solvent extraction resistance and precipitation resistance at both a high and low temperature.
