Abstract: The microcapsules composed of a liquid paraffin core and polysulfone (PSF) shell were prepared by a solvent evaporation method. The morphology, chemical structure, thermal properties and shell hardness of the microcapsules were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, Fouriertransform infrared spectrometry, thermogravimetric analysis and nanoindentation. The results indicated that the microcapsules exhibited a smooth surface with a mean particle size of about 15 μm when being synthesized at 35 ℃ by using poly(vinyl alcohol) and sodium dodecyl sulfate as emulsifiers. The microcapsules also achieved a high thermal stability and good mechanical properties.
