Abstract: In this paper, a direct-pressure vulcanization technology for high performance tires was developed by utilizing a retractable high-rigid metal internal mold to replace the soft capsules. Due to the high rigidity and high structural accuracy of the metal mold, this new technology forced the tires to be highly uniform and symmetrical, thus enhancing the dynamic balance and uniformity of tires. The traditional steam-heating method is completely replaced by an electromagnetic inductionheating method. The molds became the heat source by themselves with this method and therefore the thermal energy could be conducted to the tires efficiently. The test results from the tire with the specification of 255/30R22 indicated that the dynamic imbalance, radial force variation and lateral force variation decreased by 22.52 %, 20.9 % and 43.9 %, respectively, with this new vulcanization technology. Moreover, the vulcanization temperature difference at the symmetry site of tires was reduced by about 7 ℃, and the energy consumption of a single tire was reduced by 86 %.
