Abstract: The graphene oxide (GO) was prepared by a modified hummer’s method and then reacted with a proper amount of cyclodextrin solution, hydrazine hydrate and ammonia water to obtain a cyclodextrin/GO composite. The amounts of adsorption of the composite for Cu2+ were measured at different pH values, time and temperatures. The results indicated that the cyclodextrin/GO composite exhibited an excellent adsorption capability to Cu2+ in aqueous solutions, and its adsorption capacity reached 212.44 mg/g after 24 h under the neutral condition, presenting the adsorption efficiency of 83.46%. Such a result was mainly due to the large surface area of the graphene oxide and the electrostatic attraction of the surface oxygen-containing groups to Cu2+ as well as the cavity structure of cyclodextrin.
