Abstract: With the broad applications of plastic products in industrial production and our daily life, the microplastic pollution problem become a new environmental issue and has been attracted more and more attention all over the world. Microplastics have been detected in a wide range in seas, rivers, lakes, soil and air. The researches on distribution, migration and ecotoxicological effect of microplastics on human and other organisms are still limited. This paper overviewed the distributions and sources of microplastics in air, water and soil extensively. Moreover, the migration and transformation of microplastics and its ecotoxicological effect on human health were discussed. The future research direction of research on microplastic pollution was also prospected.
