Abstract: This paper instructed the application fields of the insulating plastic composite pipes and the associated social problems required for solution and also reviewed their performance advantages, structure and classification, standards and specifications. The technical requirements were summarized in accordance to the outer casing pipe, insulation layer, service pipe and whole pipe. Moreover, the core evaluation methods such as axial shear strength, environmental stress crack resistance, flexibility and insulation layer performance were analyzed in combination with the technical requirements.
