Abstract: This paper reviewed the development status of three modification methods for the PTFE composites filled with inorganic materials including fibers, granule and fiber-granule composite fillers. The effects of inorganic fillers on the mechanical and tribological properties of PTFE composites were discussed, which involved the friction coefficient, tensile strength and material hardness. It was founded that many of inorganic fillers such as copper powders, molybdenum disulfide and glass fibers had a lower cost and a good modification effect on the improvement of mechanical properties and tribological properties of PTFE, and these fillers were more suitable for practical engineering applications. Moreover, the problems existed in the foreign and domestic researches in recent years were analyzed, and a solution direction was proposed.
