Design of Conformal Cooling Channel of Injection Mold of Instrument Cover Based on 3D Printing

Abstract: Taking a typical instrument cover as the research object, a conformal cooling channel was design by the Moldflow software, and then an intensive investigation was conducted to compare the cooling effectiveness between the conformal cooling channel designed by this work and traditional cooling channel so as to evaluate the advantages for practical use of the conformal cooling channel. This work provided a theoretical guide for the design of the conformal cooling channel and also supplied an optimum design of mold cooling system for the product in actual production. The results indicated that, compared to traditional cooling channel, the scheme of conformal cooling channel exhibited an increase in cooling efficiency by over 31.6 %, and the uniformity of product surface temperature increased by over 44.6 %.
