Numerical Simulation on Warpage of External Gas?Assisted Injection?Molded Parts

Abstract: Based on the viscoelastic theory of polymers and the characteristics of external gas?assisted injection molding (EGAIM), a mechanical model for the stress?strain in both gas?packing stage and natural cooling stage of EGAIM was established. According to this mechanical model, the warpage of flat parts molded by EGAIM was simulated by a coupled finite element method. The simulation results were basically consistent with the experimental results, indicating that the model was effective and feasible.
