Abstract: In the cutting of aramid fiber composites various defects may appear，such as layered，flanging，spinning，napping，and charring. This paper analyzed the cutting process of the aramid fiber composite, some measures to avoid the defects were proposed. Using high strength and toughness tool material with good wear resistance, using cutting tools with special helical geometrical parameters, pre-clamping，and pre-coating of the composites were proven effective.
