Preparation,Microstructure and Performance of PLA/PBAT/OMMT Nanocomposites

Abstract: The poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/poly(butylene adipatecoterephthalate) (PBAT)/organic montmorillonite (OMMT) nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending on a torque rheometer, and their crystallization and melting behaviors, morphology, microstructure and rheological properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, rotational rheometer and Fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy. The results indicated that the presence of PBAT and OMMT improved the crystallization rate and density of crystal nucleus of PLA. The addition of chain extender could enhance the compatibility of PLA with PBAT, thus leading to an increase in storage modulus and an enhancement in melt elasticity.
