Abstract: The flow fields of six different screw configurations at melt conveying section in an intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw extruder were simulated and in the meantime the corresponding experiment was carried out. The results showed that increasing the backflow coefficient can enhance the distributive mixing effect of polymer blend, and the greater the backflow coefficient is, the better the distributive mixing performance will be.
