Abstract: Terephthalic(PTA) and butanediol (BDO) were condensed in a 5 L reactor and nanoZnO was introduced into the system leading to poly(butylene terephthalate)/ZnO nanocomposites. The non-isothermal crystallization behavior of the nanocomposites was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It showed that the nanoZnO could act as a nucleation agent for PBT. The Jeziorny method could be applied to analyze the nonisothermal crystallization process.
Key words: poly(butylene terephthalate), in-situ polymerization, nano-zinc oxide, nonisothermal crystallization
