The development of plastics additives industry during the Eleventh Five-year Plan Periocl was reviewed from aspects of product variety , industrial structure , technique application , energy saving and emission reduction, the intcrnational rnarkct share . and 5000. The main problems such as imbalance of industrial structure, irrational product structure, poor independent innovation ability, and hard energy saving and emission redllction mission exi sting in the development were pllt forwnrd. The development direction of plast?cs nddit?ves during the Twelfth Five-year Plan Period was pointed Ollt. It was emphasized that t he effi cient lIse and development of new varieties of plastic-additives would bring higher value and efficiency.

Research Progress in Halogenfree Intumescent Flame Retardants

The research progress in intumescent flame retardants was reviewed. Flameretardant mechanism of intumescent flame retardant was described briefly. The research progress, main products, and application of multi and singlecomponent(s) intumescent flame retardant were introduced. The disadvantages of intumescent flame retardant such as inferior compatibility, moisture absorption, and theoretical loading in polymers were analyzed. The surface modification, microencapsulation, and ultrafine were development direction in the future.

Flame Retardant Properties of Polystyrene/Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube Composites

Research progress in flame retardant properties of polystyrene/multiwalled carbon nanotube composites was reviewed. A detailed introduction was given on their thermal degradation behavior and glass transition temperature as well as flammability properties such as heat release rate, mass loss rate, and carbonization performance. The related mechanism was discussed in depth. The influence of the addition amount, aspect ratio, impurity, and surface modification of multiwalled carbon nanotubes on the thermal stability and flame retardant properties of the corresponding composites was analyzed.

The research progress in the surface treatment of polytetrafluoroethylene film was reviewed. Some modification methods such as chemical processing, plasma, quasimolecule laser irradiation treatment, irradiation grafting modification, high temperature melting technology, etc were introduced. The development trend of surface modification of PTFE film was presented.

Study on Properties of Polypropylene Composites Reinforced and Flame Retarded by Decabromodiphenyl Ethane and Aramid Fibers

Polypropylene composites were prepared using decabromodiphenyl ethaneantimony trioxide (DBDPESb2O3, DS) as a flame retardant and aramid fibers (AF) as a reinforcer. The effect of AF and DS on mechanical properties, flame retardancy, fracture microstructure, and thermal stability of the composites was studied. It was found that the tensile, flexural, and izod notched impact strengths were increased by 41 %, 48 %, and 17 %, respectively, compared with neat PP. Moreover, a synergistic effect was observed on the decrease of total heat release. AF displayed a positive effect on dripping resistance.

Study on the synthesis of chloride bispirocyclic pentaerythritol phosphate ester and its flame retardation properties

A novel flame retardant was synthesized from phosphorus oxychloride, pentaerythritol, and dichloromethane, with its chemical structure confirmed by FTIR. Its flame retardant property was characterized through thermogravimetry, limiting oxygen index, and intumescent character. After combustion in Muffle Furnaces the volume of the flame retardant was expanded by 27 times. Thermogravimetry up to 800 ℃ showed that a charred layer was formed which amounted to 16 % of the original weight. Loaded with 10 mass % of the flame retardant, the limiting oxygen index (LOI) of populus reached 36 %, 18 % higher than the plain sample.

Preparation and Cure Kinetics of Hyperbranched Polyester Modified Phenolic Resins

Hyperbranched polyester (HBPE) was synthesized via condensation polymerization of triethylolpropane and 2,2is(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid, which was used to modify phenolic resins(PF). The structure and thermal property of the blend were characterized with FTIR and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), a relation between the effective activation energy and the fractional conversion during the curing was determined using a modelfree isoconversional method, viz, FlynnWallOzawa (FWO) method. Due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding between hydroxyl groups of HBPE and PF, a single glass transition was observed. The impact and bend strengths of PF were increased with the addition of HBPE, reached 4.5 kJ/m2 and 77.84 MPa, respectively.

EP/GF Insulating and Thermally Conductive Composite Materials Filled with Different Sizes of BN

A thermally conductive composite was prepared using polysulfone modified epoxy resin as a matrix, glass fiber as a reinforcer, and boron nitride(BN) as a thermally conductive filler. It was found that the BN of large particle size could improve the mechanical strength, and those of small particle size was beneficial to a high thermal conductivity. With increasing content of BN particles,the thermal conductivity increased, the impact and flexure strengths increased first, and then decreased.When the content of BN was 10 wt %,impact and flexure strengths reached the maximum values.

Green Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Degradation Kinetics of PLA/MMTHTCC Nanocomposites

PLA and PLA/MMTHTCC nanocomposites were synthesized via ringopening polymerization with zinc lactate as a green catalyst. The composite was characterized using FTIR spectrum, Xray diffraction (XRD), TG analysis ,scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The thermal degradation kinetics was analyzed using Kissinger′s method and Ozawa′s method, and the apparent activation energy was obtained. Because a fraction of PLA was intercalated into MMTHTCC, the PLA/MMTHTCC composite possessed a higher thermal degradation activation energy than that of neat PLA, the peak temperature of thermal decomposition of PLA/MMTHTCC was 35.18 ℃ higher.

Study on Preparation of PP/PP6/OMMT Nanocomposites and Foaming Properties with Vibration Force Field

Maleic anhydride (MA) was grafted onto polypropylene (PP) using a composite initiator of dicumyl peroxide/benzoyl peroxide, which was used as a compatibilizer in a composite of PP/PA6/ organnomontmorillonite (OMMT). The effect of contents of the compatibilizer and OMMT on the mechanical properties of the composite was studied. A supercritical CO2 dynamic microcellular setup was used to research the foaming properties of the composites including foaming temperature, rotor rate, and vibration force. It showed that compared with neat PP, the melt strength, impact strength, and tensile strength increased by 163 %, 41 % and 8.4 %, respectively. By superimposing a vibration field on the shear stress field, the distribution of cells was homogenized and the density of cells was increased.

Study on Morphology and Mechanical Properties of Polypropylene Treated by Thermooxidative at Very High Temperature

The behavior of thermooxidative degradation and heat resistance of polypropylene（PP）film while treated at 150 ℃. After 8 days of thermooxidative treatment, significant thermooxidative degradation of the PP film was observed. However, the behavior of thermooxidative degradation of the samples was diverse. Some of the samples became degraded seriously so that they were incapable of measuring in mechanical properties, whereas some remained relatively integrated in shape. After the thermooxidative treating, the percent of the mechanicallymeasurable sample was 32.2 %, but the ageing coefficients of yield stress and tensile strength were 93.3 % and 79.6 %, respectively.

Research and Preparation of Special Material DFDC9088 for High Quality Greenhouse Films

Fractional molecular weight of linear low density polyethylene DFDC7050 was analysed. Property of DFDC9088 was determined according to the requirement of high quality greenhouse films. The molecular weight distribution was controlled through the adjustment of the production process.Best antioxidation additive formula was chosen.The result showed that the DFDC9088 had good processing ability and optical performance.Practical application and Xenon lamp artificial accelerated experiments proved that DFDC9088 was a kind of high quality greenhouse films.

Multiobjective Optimization Design of Processing Parameters of Injection Molding Cooling System Considering the Interactions

A fractional factorial experiment was employed to screen out significantly independent and interactive factors among numerous processing parameters that are closely related to injection molding cooling system. And, regarding the interaction effect, the cycling time and cavity temperature difference at the end of cooling were taken as the optimization objectives to evaluate their contributions using Taguchi experiment design method as well as with fuzzy comprehensive judgment method. Through an analysis of the evaluation, the influence of various process parameters was clarified, and an optimum combination of processing parameters was thus determined.

Research on Factors Influencing Drag Reduction Properties of Polymer Drag Reducers

The effect of molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, spatial structure, antishearing degradation, and the postprocessing was explored. Finally, measures to strengthen the research on polymeric drag reducing agents in our country were proposed.

FEM Analysis of Steel Strip Winding Reinforced Plastic Composite Pipes

An efficient FEM method for calculating the spiral steel strip′s Young′s modulus was proposed in this paper. Based on the calculation, mechanical properties in three modes, tension, bending and torsion were simulated. The simulation results were in good consistency with the experiment. This method could be applied to determine the material properties of more complex structures.

Research on Extrusion Foaming of Lowdensity Polystyrene Woodlike Slits

Extrusion foaming of neat PS and recycled PS with chemical materials as foaming agents was studied. Foaming behaviors of recycled PS using modified exothermic AC,modified endothermic NaHCO3, and exothermicendothermic composite blowing agents were compared regarding the density, cellular structure, and cellular uniformity of recycled PS foam. When the blowing agent content was 1 %, the density of the foam using AC and exothermicendothermic composite blowing agents was 0.47 g/cm3 and 0.39 g/cm3, respectively.

An outlook was given on the future application of rare earths in the polymeric materials.

Preparation and Application of DBSAdoped Polypropylene Grafted Styrene Sulfonic Acidpolyaniline Antistatic Agents

A high molecular weight permanent antistatic agent was prepared by solution grafting polymer. That is polypropylene (PP) as matrix, polyaniline(SPSS) for the graft, dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA) as dopant (PPgSPSPANI) polymer complex . Inquiries into the effect of DBSA and initiator dosage on properties of polymer antistatic agent were made. PPgSPSPANI were characterized by FTIR and the fracture surfaces of PP blends were tested by SEM. The volume resistivity of PPgSPSPANI/PP can reduce to 1012Ω·cm and PPgSPSPANI /PP has good compatibility.

Numerical Analysis of Flow and Heat Transfer of a Polymer Solid Pellet in Melt

A quasi3dimension flow and heat transfer model for extruder screw channel was established to investigate the flow, heating, and melting behavior of solid particles in a polymer melt. Sections along longitudinal and latitudinal directions were selected to study the velocity and temperature of solid pellet as functions of time. The time required for the solid particles to melt and the internal energy increase were calculated accurately. It was found that the ratio of transferred heat and internal energy was 3.68∶1.

Similar Scaleup of Mixing Section of a Tworotor Continuous Mixer

Three mixing section configurations, i.e. doubleflight, hake, and tripleflight were magnified to two and ten times according to geometric similarity principle, respectively. Polyflow software was employed to simulate the flow field in different mixing sections. Mean pressure and mixing index of different channel crosssections during one revolution period, residence time distribution, cumulative probability distribution of depolymerization power density, and modified Lyapunov index on the exit of mixing section, specific energy, torque, and axial force were used as evaluating index to analyze the effects of geometric similarity scaleup on mixing section's flow field feature, mixing quality, energy cost, etc. In these simulations, the rotational speed of rotors kept constant while the volume flow rate of mixing section inlet increased by the geometric scaleup ratio′s cube. Simulation showed that after being magnified to different size according to geometric similarity principle, the primary features of flow field, mixing effect and specific energy of mixing section were similar to those of corresponding prototypes, while torque and axial force increased by the square and cube of the geometric scaleup ratio, respectively. In the further study, similarity of the heat equilibrium should be considered to guarantee the similar plasticization effect.
