Abstract

Abstract: The research progress in halogen-free flame retardation of polystyrene in recent years is summarized. Halogen-free flame retarding systems including phosphorus systems, nitrogen systems, silicon ystems，as well as metal hydroxide systems arc introduced in detail. The flame retardation by chemical
modification of PS is also discussed.The advantages, disadvantages and mechanism of different systems rc analyzed. The developing trend of flame retardation of polystyrene is presented.
