Abstract: Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was blended with isobutyl vinyl ether-co-maleic anhydride [P(IBVE-MA)] and the water resistance and mechanical properties of the composite film were studied. When the amount of P(IBVE-MA) was 2wt%, the elongation at break of the composite film reached to 300% and water resistance was obviously improved. The blend modification mechanism was analyzed from the point views of plasticization and crystallization behavior.
