Abstract: In this paper, the theory, property, application, and manufacture of long fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) in the field of automobile parts were reviewed. LFT satisfied the requirement of high mechanical properties and dimensional stability for the half structure parts and components in the automotive. The development of domestic LFT composite materials was at the stage of preliminary research and application, national standards and mature design and application were absent. The domestic market was basically monopolized by foreign products. Therefore, LFT constituted potential products in our country.
