Abstract: The recent progress on the compatibility between polypropylene（PP）and intumescent flame retardant was reviewed. The compatibility could be improved by using charring agent, using coupling agent, micro-encapsulation, grafting modification, latex blending , so on. PP grafted with flame retardant monomers, synthesizing the PP compatible polymer containing the carbon source, gas source and acid source of intumescent flame retardant were the future trend.
