Abstract: The recent progress in the research of halogen-free flame retardant for biomass fiber- polymer composites was reviewed. Firstly，combustion properties of the composites were analyzed，then the effects of halogen-free retardants such as aluminum-magnesium，intumescent， phosphorus-containing，and nanoparticles flame retardants on the flame retardancy and mechanica properties were summarized. Based on the current problems in the flame-retardant composites，its development trend was prospected.
