Abstract: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sealing materials filled with BaSO4 were prepared via molding and sintering process. Effect of drawing ratio on the density, compressibility, and resilience were investigated. The melt crystallization behavior and crystallite structure were studied using DSC and XRD. Experimental results show that the density of PTFE/BaSO4 composites decreased, compressibility increased, while the resilience decreased, the overall compression recovery increased. Also with increasing draw ratio, the melt crystallization behavior of PTFE was little influenced, but the crystallinity increased after a first decrease.
