Abstract: Liquid crystal polymer(LCP) was introduced into polypropylene and the blend was extruded through a homemade extrusion molding die with composite tensile function, a in situ tensile self-enhancement was observed. The effect of LCP on the physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of PP was investigated. It showed that LCP formed fibrous structure in the polypropylene matrix. When the content of LCP was 10 phr,the mechanical properties and the thermal deformation temperature of the blends were enhanced by 25.2% and 21.1oC,respectively. The addition of LCP also improved the flowability and crystallinity of polyproplene.
