Abstract: Effect of plasticizers, tributyl citrate (TBC) and glyceryl triacetate(GT),on the mechanical and rheological properties of cellulose acetate (CA) was investigated. It showed that the plasticizing efficiency of GT was better than that of TBC for the same addition level. When the content of TBC or GT was 25%,the melt flow rates were 0. 060 g/(10 min)for TBC and 5. 42 g/(10 min)for GT. The system containing 5% GT and 20% TBC gave rise to an impact strength of 9. 2 kJ/m2 and a melt flow rate of 3. 63 g/(10 min).
