Abstract: The effect of polyborosiloxane on the flame retardancy properties of PC/ABS alloy was evaluated using limited oxygen index and cone calorimeter analysis. When 5 wt % of polyborosiloxane was added, the limited oxygen index of PC/ABS alloy increased from 24 % to 28.6 %, the fire performance index increased 63 %. The addition of polyborosilonaxe also decreased the total heat release and the emission of CO, CO2, and smoke during the combustion of PC/ABS alloy. The presence of polyborosiloxane promoted the formation of the char that protected the material matrix and moderated the combustion process.
