Abstract: This article introduced the surface treatment methods of coal (coupling agent processing, oxidation treatment and surface grafting) and summarized the latest achievements on improving the properties (including mechanical, electrical properties, thermal stability, and flame retardant property) of polymer/coal composites. The development tendency of polymer/coal composites was discussed.
