Abstract: Recent research and industrial production of colorless and transparent polyimide film were reviewed. Introduction of fluorine substituent, alicyclic moieties, non-plane conjugate structure, and sulfone moieties into the polyimide backbone constituted the main technology. Some in-depth research work was in the molecular design area. In the end, the development trend of colorless and transparent polyimide film was predicted.
