Abstract: Cardanol grafted polypropylene (PP-g-cardanol) was prepared by reactive extrusion in a torque rheometer. Effect of processing temperature and screw speed on grafting rate and degradation of PP was studied. The maximum grafting ratio of PP-gcardanol was 4.37 % when the processing temperature was 180 ℃ and the screw speed was 30 r/min. At the same time, the degradation of PP was decreased. The melt flow rate was 4.44 g/10 min. The stress and the viscosity of PP-g-cardanol reached the maximum at this condition.
