Abstract: Polypropylene (PP) was melt grafted with triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) through extrusion in presence of initiators DCP and BPO. Structure and thermal properties of modified PP were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),and the gel rate was also determinated. The result showed that TAIC was successfully grafted onto PP backbone, increased the gel content and decreased the melt flow index. When the loading of TAIC was 5 phr, the gel content reached a maximum of 30.83 %, meanwhile the melt flow rate dropped to a minimum of 1.09 g/10 min. Compared with virgin PP, modified PP had higher crystalline temperature and higher melting temperature.
