Composites based。,:sisal fibers(SF)and lightly acctylatcd sisal fibers(ASF) were prepared via extrusion and compression molding. The thermal and mechanical properties and the fiber length in the composites were studied.Both SF and ASF improved the tensile and bending properties of the matrix. Because the acetylation improved the interface bonding and the flexibility, the composites based on ASF exhibited higher impact strength and elongation at break than those based on SF, however, at prices of tensile strength and modulus.

The crystalline properties of polyamide 6(PA6)/N一N’一ethylene一his(tctrabromoph-thalimidc)(FPT) blends were investigated by Fouricr transform infrared (FTIR) and differential scannine calorimctry (DSC),stora}c modules and loss factors were studied with dynamic mechanical thermal analysis. The results show that EPT's accession is advantageous to form a crystal and crystallization at a higher temperature in PA6 and FPT blends. Forming two different hydrogen bonding,the blends exhibit a lower a, relaxation transition peak and a higher α2 relaxation transition peak.

Melt blending was employed to prepare poly(phenvlene sulfide)/epoxy resin composites(PPS/EPOs).The effect of epoxy on the structure of PPS/EPOs was investigated via rhcological method .The results indicate that chemical crosslinking occurred on PPS matrix during blending process and the crosslinking degree increases with increasing of epoxy loadings.As a result,the dynamic modulus of the composites increases remarkably, presenting non-terminal effects at low frequencies. Moreover, the sensitivity to the steady shears decreases and the linear viscoclastic range extends due to presence of crosslinking network in the composites.

The effect of interface bonding on the properties of PP/CaCO3 composites was investigated.When CaCO3 alone was introduced into PP,the flexural strength and thermal stability of the system improved,while tensile and impact strengths decreased with increasing content of CaCO3.However, whenCaCO3 was introduced together with an clastomer, the impact strength of PP was improved drastically with less decrease in tensile strength.AFM revealed that the clastomer substantially formed coating layers on the CaCO3 surface leading to a core-shell structure. With addition of a coupling agent,such coating became more effective.

4一(hydroxyl),4’一(carboxyl) azobcnzcnc was synthesized by using p-aminobcnzoic acid,sodium nitrite, and phenol via azo一coupling reaction,and the structure was characterized with FTIR and NMR. The resulted product was blended with polvcarbonate in an internal mixer to carry out the transcstcrification leading to azo一polvcarbonatc. The obtained product possessed the photochromic of azobcnzene groups with the transparency and mechanical properties of polvcarbonate.

Mechanical properties and rheological behavior of blends of polv(vinvl chloride)(PVC),chlorinatcd PVC(PVC-C ),and MBS arc investigated.The Vicat softening temperature of the blend increased with increasing content of PVC-C. The tensile strength and flexural modulus also increased with increasing content of PVC-C, while the impact strength and elongation at break decreased. In addition,PVC-C increased the equilibrium torque. The melt viscosity of the blends was reduced by the introduction of MBS.

A novel halogen-free charring agent,poly(2-cthylcncdiaminc-4一phcnoxy-1,3,5一triazinc),was synthesized with a yield of 93.9%.Some factors affecting the reaction were investigated.The structure of the charring agent was characterized using FTIR. This triazine derivative was introduced int。ABS together with an intumescent flame retardant(IFR),ammonium polyphosphate(APP),and phosphorus, good flame retardancy was observed.

Biodegradable poly(hydroxybutyrate-co一hyd roxyvalerate)/poly(butylene adipate-co一terephthalate)(PHBV /PBAT)blends were prepared via melting blending.Morphologies, mechanical and thermal properties of the blends were studied. The elongation at break and notched Izod impact strength of PHBV/PBAT blend reached 55 % and 542J/m, 19 and 22.6 times that of neat PHBV, respective1y. Scanning electronic microscopy(SEM) indicated that PBAT constituted dispersed phase in the PHBV /PBAT blends when its weight fraction below 50 wt,at which a phase inversion occurred. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) suggested that the crystallization temperatures of PHBV in PHBV/PBAT blends were 20一40℃lower than those of neat PHBV due to the inhibition effect of PBAT.

The paper introduced the influence of screw axial vibration on extrusion properties of poly (vinyl chloride)(PVC) /wood-flour composite, when it was processed by singlc screw dynamic extrusion.The tensile properties of PVC/wood-flour composite resulted by different screw vibration parameters (amplitude and frequency) were compared with those in static extrusion. It showed that the best vibration parameters were 20 Hz vibration frequency and 120μm amplitude.

The effects of solubility parameter,boiling point,and surface tension of the extractant on the relative dimension of membrane prepared via thermally induced phase separation were studied.Membrane shrinkage was shown to increase with incrceasing surface tension,increasing boiling point,and incrceasing interaction with polymer. This demonstrated that the magnitude of capillary force,the length of the time during which capillary force is exerted on the pore wall,and the softening effect of extractant
greatly influenced the contraction of pores.

The research focused on the effect of shear intensity on the crystallization process and the properties of the PA6/CaCl2 composites which were prepared through melting extrusion. With increasing shear intensity, the complex degree between PA6 and CaClz2 increased,the degree of crystallinity of PA6 decreased,the crystalline became more imperfect;the viscosity of PA6/CaCl2 melt increased.As the shear intensity increased,tensile strength and Izod impact strength of PA6/CaCl2 composites cxhibited a maximum, which could be related to the degree of both crystallinity and complex. When the shear intensity was below a certain critical value, the effect of degree of crystallinity was dominant,other wise, the effect of the complex reaction was dominant.

Effect of P,Br and Si on the heat release rate, total smoke emission,total heat release rate,and CO and COz concentration for PP was studied by cone calorimeter. It showed that Br is an effective flame retardant clement,but the CO and total smoke emission is high. The P-V intumescent system decreased the CO and total smoke emission,however, had an inferior flame retardancy. With the addition of molecule sieve, parameters of the flame retardant become superior. The combination P-V intumescent system with molecule sieve will be an ideal choice.

Castor oil was modified with malcic anhydride(MA)and β-hydroxycthyl acrylatc(HEA)toyield a polvmcrizablc resin(HEAMACO),which was copolvmerized with styrene leading to a biodegradable thermosetting polymer. The effects of HEAMACO/St ratio, dosage of initiator(BPO),and accclcrant(V,N-dimcthvl aniline) on the glass transition temperature(Tg,crosslink density, and mechanical properties of the polymer were studied. TR and mechanical properties of the polymer could be adjusted by changing the contents of styrene, BPO or accclerant. It could behave between a soft and a semi-rigid plastic with TR changed between 10一60℃.Furthermore, this polymer based on HEAMACO resin was proved to be biodegradable in soil burial.

By using a slot rhcological die with a slit channel and I,abvicw data collection system, rhcological behavior of polypropylene/supercritical carbon dioxide mixture was studied at different temperatures and gas concentration. Critical foaming pressure of PP/COz system was also determined by utilizing a novel ultrasonic detecting system. It showed that the viscosity curves under different conditions have similar slope, and shift linearly down with increasing melt temperature and gas volume. When melt temperature was below 175℃,the critical foaming pressure increased with decreasing melt temperaturc.

Tigital filtering technology was applied to weight-loss metering feeding system in order to improve the accuracy of on-line flux-measuring in extrusion process. The mechanical structure and controlling mechanism of the weight-loss metering were introduced. Limiting-recursive average filtering algorithms was employed to control the extrusion flux through the weight-loss metering system, which was verified by the on-line flux measuring in composite sheet extrusion.
