Abstract: The effects of crystallinity, chain flexibility, and chemical composition on the degradation behavior of PBS were analyzed in this paper. It was found that the flexible segments promoted, the regular crystalline structure hindered the biodegradability. Aliphatic segments biodegraded easier than the aromatic ones. The degradation remained a challenging problem in the work of improving the performance of PBS-based copolyester.

Key words: degradation, poly (butylene succinate), crystallization, copolyester
