Research Progress in Cyclic Phosphate Flame Retardant

Abstract: The recent development of bispirocyclic pentaerythritol phosphate flame retardant was reviewed, including improvement in the synthetic methods, synergistic effect with other flame retardants, and the application in polypropylene, epoxy resin, and other engineering plastics and textiles. Improvement in the synthetic methods were mainly achieved by adding the catalyst and acid-binding agent resulting in reduction in temperature, reaction time, and costs. Synergistic effect of the flame retardancy was realized between bispirocyclic pentaerythritol phosphate and P-N, P-Si systems.
