Abstract: Biomedical poly(carbonateurethane) elastomers were synthesized from 4,4′methylene dicyclohexyl diisocyanate(HMDI), 1,4butanediol(BDO), and polycarbonate diol (PCD) through melting prepolymer method. The relationship between microphase separation structure and properties was analyzed using infrared spectrography (IR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA), gel permeation chromatograph (GPC), mechanical property test, hydrolysis performance test, and cytotoxicity test. The casted poly(carbonateurethane) elastomers without carcinogenic degradation product 4,4′methylenedianiline(MDA) generation, had adjustable mechanical properties, good resistance to hydrolysis and excellent biocompatibility, and thus a great potential for application as a longterm implanted stable biomedical material.
