Abstract: A series of blends based on poly (phenylene sulfide) (PPS) and poly (methylvinyl siloxane) (PMVS) were prepared by melt mixing process. The mechanical properties and the fracture morphology of the blends were investigated. It showed that the elastomers were well dispersed in PPS matrix. The toughening effect of the elastomers was obvious. When the mass fraction of the elastomers was 3 %, the elongation at break of PPS/NPMVS and PPS/SPMVS blends were 3.9 and 2.4 times higher than that of neat PPS, respectively. The impact strength of PPS/NPMVS (NPMVS 3 mass %) and PPS/SPMVS (SPMVS 10 mass %) blends were 1.8 and 1.4 times higher than those of neat PPS, respectively.
