Abstract: A series of shape memory materials was fabricated by blending styrene butadiene copolymer (SBS) with low density polyethylene (PE-LD) and crosslinked by dicumyl peroxide (DCP) in the presence of multifunctional monomers. The degree of crosslinking, tensile strength, and elongation at break of the crosslinked blends were investigated. The results indicated that multifunctional monomers played an enhancing role in the chemical crosslinking of SBS/PE-LD blends and the crosslinked SBS/PE-LD blends exhibited an excellent shape memory behavior, the shape fixed ratio and the shape recovery ratio of the crosslinked SBS/PE-LD blends could be 100 %. With increasing content of multifunctional monomers, the degree of crosslinking of the blends increased.
