Abstract: The effect of triphenyl phosphate (TPP) and methyl methacrylatebutadienestyrene (MBS) on the properties of polycarbonate/acrylonitrilebutadienestyrene (PC/ABS) blend was investigated. It showed that when 16.7 wt % TPP was introduced, PC/ABS blend could achieve a V-0 rating in UL 94 tests, limiting oxygen index was also improved remarkably. When MBS was introduced as a compatibilizer, the limiting oxygen index was further increased. TPP retarded the degradation of alloys, improved the thermal stability, and increased the char residue in nitrogen atmosphere, while MBS promoted the degradation of alloys.
