Synthesis and Application of a New Non-toxic PVC Heat Stabilizer Penzinc

Abstract: Penzinc was synthesized by a solid-state reaction. The structure of the complex was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Thermal stability of penzinc and with several auxiliary heat stabilizers, calcium stearate, epoxidized soybean oil, LDHS and β-diketone were evaluated by Congo Red test and oven aging test. It showed that penzinc and epoxidized soybean oil had the best collaborative effect,the thermal stability time could reach 54 min. Penzinc and β-diketone had better collaborative effect on inhibition of the early color changing. Penzinc obviously enhanced the heat stability of PVC, no zinc burning phenomenon was found, closes to the traditional lead salt.
