Abstract: Three arm star-shaped poly (butylene succinate) (s-PBS) was synthesized by melt polycondensation from 1,4-succinate, butanediol, and glycerin, with titanic acid ester as chief catalyst and acetate as assistant catalyst. The property of s-PBS was characterized using FTIR, DSC, GPC,TGA, and POM. The number average molecular weight was found to be 7.32×104, the degree of crystallinity was 76 %, the melting temperature was 115.4 ℃. After biodegradation in compost for 60 days, the biodegradation percentage of s-PBS reached to 54.16 %.
