Preparation of Nanozinc Hydroxylstannate and Its Application in Flexible PVC

Abstract: Nanozinc hydroxystannate (nanoZHS) was synthesized via chemical precipitation method. Xray diffraction(XRD), Xray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the product was in the form of nanocubic singlecrystals having particle size of 50~60 nm. PVC/ZHS nanocomposites was prepared via a blending method. TG and DTA showed that nanoZHS could catalyze the dehydrochlorination of PVC and promote early crosslinking leading to rapid charring and increase thermal stability of char layer. When the addition of nanoZHS increased, limiting oxygen index increased from 23.8 % to 32 %. However, tensile strength and elongation at break of the composites would be dropped when nanoZHS was added to PVC.
