Abstract: The effect of antioxidant on thermal oxidation stability of polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA) was systematically studied by thermogravimetric analysis. It was indicated that the addition of antioxidants could effectively improve thermal oxidative stability of PMMA. The initial decomposition temperature and maximum decomposition rate temperature increased linearly with antioxidant loading (up to 3 ‰ ). The main antioxidant BHT was effective for the initial decomposition temperature and the assistant antioxidant DLTDP for the maximum decomposition rate temperature. The optimal weight ratio of the main and assistant antioxidants was 1/2.
